Plashet Hockey Club was formed in east london
back in the early 1980’s. The founder, Manmohan Singh Panesar,
migrated from Kenya and decided to continue his passion for
the game here in the UK. The local ground in east ham, Plashet
park, soon became the venue for the beautiful game. The word
slowly spread, and before long, many more people were attending
the park, for their weekly hockey training. Traditionally
a game played on grass, Plashet park was ideal, and training
still goes on there until this day.
The success of the club is now
engineered by their youth development programme. The younger
players have brought a new dimension to the club structure,
and the overall game in tournaments.
The summer of 2005 saw Plashet participate in 8 national tournaments,
where they managed to reach 6 finals, winning 5. It was an
amazing achievement for both the club, and the younger players.
Plashet has now decided to carry this success
into the winter season, by entering a team in the South East
Mens Hockey League.
