Plashet
1 Vs Brentwood 2
22nd November 2008
1 - 1
This week produced an absolutely disastrous
result for the first team against a very ordinary
Brentwood
team that was placed second from bottom before this result.
Once again Plashet were forced to reshuffle
their squad for this fixture as key players were away on
international commitments. Having said that, the men in orange set
about the game in a positive light and began the game playing with
pace and skill to create many chances from early on. The pattern
of the game was stamped from as early as 5 minutes into the game;
Plashet had so many chances to score but did not convert these
into goals due to wayward finishing. The game could have been and
should have been over by the half hour mark, missed chances meant
the score remained at 0 - 0 until shortly before half time
Inderjeet Singh broke the deadlock with a clinical strike from a
short corner which found its way between the keeper and the
defender on the line before it struck the backboard.
To the second half, Plashet restarted the
game brightly; again chances were created time after time,
however, Plashet were unable to find the final finish to put this
game out of reach from their opposition. Each and every Plashet
striker was found guilty of squandering relatively simple chances
which would have been converted with ease in most games, and as
Plashet only had a 1 nil lead; there was still a lot of work to do
before the game was over. With this said, inevitably, Brentwood
applied more pressure to push for a result themselves, after a
last ditched short corner, they got the equaliser with 2 minutes
remaining to give themselves a very unlikely result. Although the
game ended at 1 -1, Plashet will see this as a loss and have given
themselves a mountain to climb to reach the promotion stages.
There is still over half the season remaining and anything can
happen, however, Plashet will need to take this as a harsh lesson
learnt and improve considerably in finishing their chances.
