Plashet Vs Colchester 2
9
- 1
The
first league game back after the christmas break was always going
to prove to be a difficult game. Plashet's preparations for
the restart of the season were not as good as they had hoped.
Only having played one practice match (which also had been
abandoned due to bad weather), Plashet were looking to find the
rhythm and momentum that they had built up before christmas.
The opposing team were Colchester and this would prove to be a
challenging away game for Manmohan Singh's men.
Plashet
were missing key vital players. Amardeep Singh,
the influential goalkeeper, had a late fitness test and was ruled
out due to excessive consumption of turkey over the holiday
period. This paved the way for rookie Onkar to make his
Plashet debut in goal. Plashet started the game with all
their key players making telling contributions. Colchester
was trapped in their own half. Ajaypal Singh, was causing
great difficulties for his opposing marker, and turned beautifully
away creating a great opportunity for Himmat Singh. Wayward
finishing let down Plashet on this occasion. Ajaypal
was again creating havoc in the Colchester defence and created
another opportunity. The
opportunity again fell to Himmat Singh who tucked away the chance
neatly.
Against
the run of play, Colchester scored.
A great move saw them tear up the Plashet defence.
The ball was carried a long way by the Colchester right
wing, who pulled the ball back neatly from the by line.
The Colchester centre forward swivelled nicely, losing
Sandeep Singh, and finished well.
Plashet’s dominance was telling with more opportunities
for the boys in Orange. Plashet’s
top scorer Inderjeet Singh then finished off another great Plashet
move, placing the ball underneath the oncoming goalkeeper.
Veteran Parveen Singh also got on to the score sheet,
making his experience tell, by weaving away from two tackles and
again finishing strongly.
The Colchester keeper had no chance.
3-1 to Plashet.
Plashet continued to dominate, but were not really firing
on all cylinders.
The second half saw some tactical changes from Plashet, with Ajaypal
Singh moving back in to midfield.
His physical presence would prove to make a telling
contribution. Plashet dominated the midfield area, with Ravinder
Singh and Ajaypal Singh working well together.
This allowed Himmat Singh to express himself a little
further up the field. A great through ball by Ravinder Singh found Inderjeet
Singh with two markers to beat.
He cleverly dribbled through two players and once again
found the net with a precise finish.
Plashet were now enjoying themselves.
Daljeet Cheema, another one of Plashet’s flair players hit a bit of
form. He is
very much a confidence player, and I feel the half time break
served him well. His
second half performance was incredible.
Exquisite dribbling with some great passing and movement
made him a real threat. He
proved to be unstoppable in the 53rd minute.
Cheema picked the ball up on the half way line, and with a
great change of pace, forced his way past 4 defenders.
He approached the penalty area, and squared the ball for
Ajaypal Singh to score an open goal. It was great play by the promising Plashet player.
There is no reason why he should not perform at this
standard for the entire 70 minutes.
More substitutions took place, with some of the more senior
players showing their knowledge of the game, by slowing the pace
right down. It
was exhibition stuff. The
goals followed aswell. Himmat
Singh got his second and Sukhwinder Singh also added another goal
after fine approach play from Harpal and Manmohan Singh.
Inderjeet Singh also won a penalty, which Sanjeev Sharma
converted. The score
finished 9-1. A
thoroughly deserved victory.
