Plashet
1 Vs Harlow 1
6th December 2008
16 - 0
The last game before the xmas break had already arrived, Plashet
played host to
Harlow
. As the final score line suggests, this was an emphatic win for
the men in orange which considerably boosted their goal
difference. However, in all fairness to Harlow, they suffered
great set backs to their team before the start of the season
losing a handful of their regular first team players which has
forced them to use many young and inexperienced players, that will
only aide them to build for the future.
From the start of the game, Plashet seemed
very jaded which allowed
Harlow
to pass the ball around and create some early opportunities to
open the scoring. However, after playing some very average hockey,
Plashet opened their goal scoring account just before 10 minutes
into the game. For much of the first half Plashet carved out many
chances to score goals but eventually finished the first half 6
nil up.
The second half continued the same way in
which the first half ended, as the game was completely one sided,
Plashet tested the Harlow defenders and shot stopper time and time
again, scoring goals at will. The game ended Plashet winning 16
nil, with many players getting on the score sheet, including;
Himmat Singh x 5, Inderjeet Singh x 4, Sukhdev Singh x 2, Verinder
Singh x 2 and Sant Singh, Harpal Singh and Gurmukh Singh scoring a
goal a piece.
It was a good testament to
Harlow
’s character during and after the game, although they were well
beaten, they kept their heads up and accepted the post match
hospitality with great banter and sportsmanship.
So a good end to the first half of the season, as
it stands Plashet are in 3rd place with a lot of work
to do after Christmas to gain promotion. We look forward to the
remainder of the season to see how it unfolds.
