Plashet Vs Old Southendian 2

4 - 0

Plashet have been in good form over the last few weeks, scoring goals a plenty and not conceding in their last 5 games. Old Southendiens were their next opponents, check below to see if the warriors in orange maintained their form.

Plashet were missing some key players for this fixture, never the less they still fielded a team more than capable of getting a good result. Plashet started the game looking very lethargic, although they had much of the possession and a hatful of goal scoring opportunities within the first 10 minutes of the game. The visiting team did manage to trouble the Plashet defence on a couple of occasions, as Plashet were not functioning as a unit as they had been doing in their previous games. However the Plashet defence remained resolute and snuffed out any Southendien threat on the Plashet goal. Mid way through the first half, it became more evident that Plashet were beginning to find their rhythm, as they were attacking the Southendien goal time and time again from all angles as well as holding possession of the ball for long spells. The break through eventually came when Inderjeet Singh dazzled his way past 4 Southendien defenders and managed to get into the shooting area. His neat stick work allowed him to take the ball around the visiting goalkeeper to strike the ball into the empty goal.

The goal spurred Plashet on further as they now began playing controlled and slick hockey, creating space and maintaining short sharp passing. This style of hockey was far too much for the visiting team to deal with as the oppositions defence was cut open time and time again by the Plashet midfield and forwards. With immense pressure building on the Southendian defence, it was only a matter of time before Plashet doubled their lead. The next Plashet goal came in a very similar manner to their first, again Inderjeet Singh wriggled his way through the Southendian defence, rounded the keeper, and once again fired the ball into the empty net. Plashet went into the half time break with the score at 2-0 in their favour.

As the second half began, Plashet once again dictated the play and maintained the fluency they had managed to create mid way through the first half. It was a sterling performance by Plashet as they exploited the oppositions weaknesses for long periods as they were able to get inside the shooting area to test the visiting goalkeeper at will. If it was not for the opposition goalkeeper, then this could have easily topped Plashet's 14 nil win over Chelmsford last week. However this was not to be, Plashet kept the pressure on the visiting team and finally managed to score once again as Inderjeet Singh secured his hat-trick. He managed to slot the ball past the Southendian goalkeeper after some clever build up play from the Plashet midfield. With 10 minutes left of the game, Plashet were able to convert one of their many short corners as a sweetly struck shot from the top of the D by Sanjeev Sharma, hit the goalkeepers pads and trickled into the empty goal.

So the end of the game, and Plashet had sealed the first half of the season with yet another comfortable win; 4 nil. A well deserved break for Plashet until the new year, where they will look to continue their impressive form as the leagues new boys.
