Plashet
1 Vs Ramgharia 1
0 - 1
This week saw Plashet playing their first
home game of the season. Before the game, Plashet knew this would
be a fiery affair against their local rivals. Spirits were high in
the Plashet camp, and were keen to get this game underway.
From the start it was obvious to see that
Ramgarhia had a definite game plan to try and stop the men in
orange, as they packed out the middle of their defence and mid
field and played with just one striker, clearly playing counter
attacking hockey.
Plashet made there usual bright and energetic
start to the game, taking charge in key positions and passing the
ball around effectively and switching the play. This pattern of
play continued for the first 10 – 15 minutes of the game, whilst
Ramgarhia only had minimal attacking options up front, they broke
into the Plashet half only a couple of times without really
troubling the Plashet defence. A combination of good Ramgarhia
defending and poor Plashet shooting at goal along with poor final
passes kept the scores level mid way through the first half. This remained the way in which the
game went until the interval.
As the second half commenced, Plashet started
where they left off in the first half by retaining possession and
causing problems for the Ramgarhia defence. Ramgharia however,
showed their true hockey spirit, by playing good solid defensive
hockey, and breaking quickly on the counter. With a around 15 minutes of the game to
play Sanjeev was given a yellow card
for another alleged strong tackle, and then immediately after,
Inderjit Singh was also given a yellow card for making his
frustration known. With 2
influential players off the pitch for Plashet, Ramgarhia managed to stretch the Plashet
defence more than anytime they had during the game. The telling
blow came for Plashet as the forward Ramgarhia man managed to get
away from Sukhvinder Singh, and the striker found himself in the D,
one on one with the goalkeeper and struck the ball into the side
of the net. A magnificent strike, which the keeper could do
nothing about. 1 nil down with only minutes to play, the men in
orange were staring at defeat. With tempers flaring and the spirit of the
game lost in the first half, there was little left for Plashet in
this game.
As the final whistle blew, realisation struck
that Plashet had conceded their first defeat of
the season.
Next week, Plashet will need to lift
themselves, when they travel to East London, watch this space to
see how they get on….
