SLOUGH HOCKEY TOURNAMENT 2008
Having put
together a make-shift squad at the last minute, Plashet came into the tournament
expecting a few dramas. The drama began with Plashet taking an early lead
against the group favourites; Satelite. Satelite boasted national league players
in their squad, who needed our one goal lead to raise their game. They soon took
control of the situation, and Plashet conceded a few avoidable goals.
Ramgharia Southall were a familiar outfit, who were no strangers to Plashet's
game. Plashet took the lead with a well worked out goal. A defensive error then
put Southall back into the game. Plashet once again restored their lead, and
with a few nail biting minutes towards the end of the game, they managed to hold
on to the points.
Plashet has always respected Barford Tigers for their reputation as a hockey
club. Again, boasting some of the national league's finest players, Barford were
always favourites to win this. Plashet went into the game looking for a much
needed win. Surprisingly, Plashet took the lead in the game, and managed to hold
on through-out the tense game, to seal the points, and their place in the
semi-finals.
Coventry was always going to be tough opposition, with a squad jam packed with
internationally talented stars. Plashet put up a brave fight, and created
chances which could have seen the game take a different turn. A few costly
misses, and a few defensive errors saw Plashet head out of the tournament with
their heads held up high.
