  Plashet Vs Southend 2

6 - 1

The seaside town of Southend was once again the venue for Plashet’s second away game. Full of confidence from their enormous win last week, Plashet travelled to Southend to face Southend 2’s.

Plashet started the game very slow and a little static. The passing seemed to be imprecise and the movement seemed to be very sluggish. This was largely due to the poor quality of the pitch, and the chosen orange hockey ball by the home team. Despite some appeals from Plashet, the game continued with this ball.

Plashet were trying to capture their momentum, and capture their form from last weekend, but were unable to do so. Plashet still maintained their authority on the game, and created many chances to open the scoring, but failed to produce the end product. The shock came half way through the first half, when Southend managed to score. This was most definitely a wake up call for Plashet. Plashet were 1-0 down, and were not on top of their game.

Plashet had to step up their game, and when presented with a short corner, did not waste the opportunity. Sukhwinder Singh stepped up, and smashed the ball home to equalise. 1-1 and Plashet could breath again. As the half time whistle was approaching, Plashet broke down the right wing with a clever through ball. Gurdeep Singh, the most junior player in the team, attacked the Southend goal, and with a clever little flick, put Plashet 2-1 ahead. The half ended with sighs of relief from the Plashet dressing room.

The second half saw the introduction of a white astro ball, as chosen by Plashet. The game started a little differently, with Plashet holding most of the possession, and growing with confidence. Southend 2 created very few chances, and failed to trouble the Plashet defence in this half. Plashet suddenly began looking very dangerous, and with some very good passing from the back four, they exposed the Southend goal and Ajaypal Singh added to Plashet’s tally. 3-1 and Plashet were looking good.

Ajaypal Singh added two more goals to his total, edging Plashet forward towards another win. This was confirmed, when Sukhwinder Singh scored his second, and sealed the 6-1 victory for Plashet. Three out of three wins, and Plashet have kept their place at the top of the table.
