Plashet Vs Wapping 3
3
- 0
This week saw Plashet travel away to face
their local archrivals sitting second in the table; Wapping 3.
Always promising to be a great game of hockey, the spirits were
high in the Plashet camp.
Wapping began the game at high tempo, and straight away, Plashet
looked uncomfortable with this style of play. Plashet could not
gain possession, and were struggling to string passes together.
The midfield and defence knew they had a challenging game ahead of
them
With twenty minutes gone, Plashet slowly started gaining control
of the game, by slowing the pace down, and working the ball around
the pitch. Plashet finally found the break through, when they were
awarded a short corner. The initial routine was broken down, but
Sanjeev Sharma was the first to react, and the ball thundered into
the Wapping net. 1-0 to the Orange.
Wapping were stunned by the goal, but like true professionals,
raised their tempo once again in search of the equaliser. It was a
very hard fought game in the middle of the park, with both teams
equal to each others attacking patterns. Any mistake could be
costly, and Wapping were the first team to crumble. Himmat Singh
latched into a great through ball from Inderjeet Singh, and with
great skill, managed to work the ball around the keeper, and into
the goal. 2-0 and Plashet were now in command.
The restart of the game, introduced
Upkar Singh in goal for Plashet, with Amardeep Singh retiring with
an injury. Plashet continued where they left off, with possession
of the ball, and continued attacks on the Wapping goal. Wapping
seemed to be rolling on different players in an attempt to change
the run of play, but Rav Singh was holding strong in the middle.
Sanjeev Sharma and Sandeep Singh reinforced the Plashet goal,
making it very difficult for Wapping to create anything.
Plashet stamped and sealed the game mid way through the second half, when
Himmat Singh was brought down by the Wapping keeper, and Plashet
were awarded a penalty flick. Sanjeev Sharma stepped up to roll
the ball into the goal, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0 and
Plashet had got their deserved win. This win sent Plashet six
points clear at the top of the league.
