Plashet 1 Vs Waltham Forest 1

1st November 2008

1 - 6

In Plashet's eyes, this is a game that will need to be forgotten about quickly in order to get on with the rest of the season. For the second week running, the men in orange were forced to field the majority of their 2nd eleven against Waltham Forest , who had got off to a good start to the season.

From the initial pushback, Plashet were on the back foot as Waltham Forest came at them showing much improvement from previous seasons. With Plashet's make shift squad, it was hard for them to get any rhythm going in this game as they were forced to defend deep and only counter attack. After 5 minutes and WF's first short corner, Plashet conceded their first goal of the game after a miss hit strike bobbled its way past the part time fill in keeper. Very soon after, Plashet were 2 nil down after an uncharacteristic error by the Plashet defender found the ball deflect off his foot into the path of the WF striker to slot the ball in from 2 yards out. As the game continued, a Plashet defender was sent off, leaving Plashet to play the remainder of the game with just 10 men. After the restart, the game became a very scrappy affair by both teams, Plashet were still defending deep; however WF were unable to capitalise on their goals tally in the first half as they were unable to hold their possession and penetrate the Plashet goal.

After the break, Plashet knew they were going to have a tough time of it as WF would be looking to increase their lead. As the pattern of play emerged, Plashet defended deep, and had no real options to attack, however they did create a host of short corners which were all wasted. As WF attacked, they were guilty of being woeful of their chances, as a result of good keeping by the Plashet shot stopper and bad finishing kept the scores at 2 nil until WF increased their lead through a short corner drag flick, which was parried into the goal by the keeper. As the game went on, Plashet became evidently tired and as a result WF scored 2 identical goals in quick succession to increase their score to 5 nil. With 5 minutes left to go, Plashet gained a consolation goal through Sant Singh, as the initial short corner strike was saved; he managed to slot his shot in between the keeper and the post. However, from the resulting restart, WF finished the game off with their 6th goal, to end the game 6 -1.

A very disappointing game for Plashet in every aspect, however they will need to pick themselves up very quickly to continue with the rest of the season.
