Plashet Vs Witham 2

3 - 0

Robert Clack Leisure Centre in Dagenham welcomed Witham 2’s to face the league leaders Plashet. It was a dull Saturday afternoon, with a mild chill in the air. Plashet came into the game six points clear at the top, and Witham came into the game with nothing to lose.

Witham pushed back, and got the ball rolling, to what expected to be a fairly tedious game from a Plashet prospective. Plashet were aware that Witham did not like to concede goals, and were the only team after Plashet to have conceded a goals tally in single figures.

Plashet decided to add to this tally, after some amazing stick work from Inderjeet Singh saw him literally walk into the opposition D, walk around the keeper and have a shot on goal. The shot, on route to the goal, struck a Witham players foot, and the umpire had no option but to award a penalty flick. Sanjeev Sharma stepped up to tuck this away with ease. 1-0 to the Orange.

The weather seemed to be causing Plashet more of a problem than the Witham team, with the rain pouring down at great force, causing poor visibility and mis-calculated passes. Plashet certainly saw the sunshine after the rain, when Inderjeet Singh once again, found his way into the opposition half, and forced the opposition into all sorts of compromising positions. The umpire once again, was called to award a penalty flick, when the ball struck a player on route to the back of the net. Daljeet Singh stepped up this time, and converted this chance with ease. 2-0 and Plashet were a little more comfortable.

Witham failed to trouble the Plashet defence and created few chances, but managed to win themselves a short corner towards the end of the first half. Plashet needed to keep a clean sheet going into the break, and Amardeep Singh, in goal for Plashet, made a magnificent save to deny Witham any chance of a revival.

The second half carried on pretty much the same as the first, with a lot of the hockey being played in the middle of the park. Neither team looked their best, with the umpiring not being the best so far this season. Plashet finally sealed the game after some clever play from the right wing. Sant Singh managed to set-up a shooting opportunity for Inderjeet Singh. The Witham keeper managed to pull off a great save, but Randeep Singh was on hand to tap in the rebound. 3-0 and the game was won.
